"Cruisin' Bob's - Summer of '62"
By Larry Grossman - RetroVisions

If you grew up in Los Angeles somewhere between 1950 and 1970, you cruised a Bob's Big Boy on Friday night, end of story! Depicted here is a scene from the summer of 1962 at the Bob's in Toluca Lake (Burbank) California. Cruising past is a "Satin’s Slaves" biker on his chopped Harley, and in the parking lot are an assortment of cool cars, including a chopped '33 rod, a '59 Corvette, a '46 Ford Woody, a '30 Model A sedan, and a custom ’54 Ford lead-sled. There's also a '57 Chevy Nomad turning the left corner, a ’32 3-window coupe coming down the driveway, and a bad-ass looking '55 Chevy Gasser out on the street! Built in 1949, this is the oldest Bob's Big Boy still standing, and amazingly, on any Friday night it's still L.A.'s most popular cruising scene! -- L.G.
