"Rock Island Pacific Departing Peoria 1932"
By Larry Grossman - RetroVisions

The Rock Island Line's "Pacific" steam locomotive and passenger train are seen departing a muddy rain-soaked Peoria rail yard in 1932. In the distance, a stranded motorist looks under his hood in attempt to start his car. In the 1930's, blues artist Lead Belly recorded the song "Rock Island Line", which was later recorded by several other major recording artists that included Johnny Cash, Bobby Darin, Harry Belafonte, and John Lennon. -- L.G.
