"May Co. Wilshire"
By Larry Grossman - RetroVisions |
||
Built in 1939 and located on the corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Fairfax in the heart of Los Angeles' "Miracle Mile", this flagship of the May Co. Department Store chain was never quite as elegant as it's rival Bullock's Wilshire, located a few miles east. But with it's distinctive Streamlined Moderne architecture, it was every bit as distinctive. It still stands, but has been converted to be part of the Los Angeles County Museum (LACMA) complex. -- L.G. |
