"The Alex"

Located in Glendale California, the Alex Theatre originally opened in 1925. It was remodeled in 1940 by noted theatre designer S. Charles Lee, at which time the distinctive art deco 100 foot column (with a neon sphere on top) was added. In the scene I've depicted, two classic noir films from 1944 are playing: "Double Indemnity", starring Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck, and "Murder My Sweet", starring William Powell and Claire Trevor.
